If you can afford it, get a silk hair cap for sleeping in. Before you go to bed, make sure to moisturize and either twist your hair or keep them in little "balls". This will keep your hair soft and detangled throughout the night. Do not be frustrated with your hair. It will grow if you take good care of it, not if you add a lot of chemicals and perm it or hide it underneath wigs and weaves.
Also, what you eat is very important. I try to eat very healthily. I eat a LOT of sushi, which is my favorite thing to eat. Eating seaweed is very beneficial for hair growth, and sushi contains seaweed. But it can be pricey. I spend about $60 a week on sushi. But it's so delicious. Also, drink lots of water, and get a lot of Vitamin C. Get your dark green vegetables, these are #1 for hair growth!
I like to make kale smoothies with soy milk, organic kale, avocado, hemp protein powder, bananas, berries and a touch of fat-free vanilla yogurt. It is so yummy and the kale leaves are so blended into the smoothie you don't even know you are drinking a vegetable! The smoothie should be very light green in colour.
Eating your beans and legumes promotes healthy hair growth as well. I'm not a big fan of beans but you can sprinkle them on your nachos or pop 'em into a rice dish. Walnuts, cashews, pecans and almonds contain selenium which is an important nutrient for your hair. So eat your nuts!!! I love cashews in my Thai dishes, they're so yummy.
Eat your chicken and turkey too. The protein helps hair grow nice and strong! And don't forget eggs and whole grains.
But most importantly, drink those 6-10 glasses of water a day. With this heat wave, it shouldn't be hard!!!
